Your deck was built to enjoy your outdoor living space...So enjoy it and leave the work to us. It's back-breaking, time-consuming work to protect a new deck and even more difficult to restore a dirty old deck.
Left untreated, your deck could become an expensive eyesore and a source of frustration.
Your wood deck is exposed to the destructive elements of nature 24 hours a day. Rain, melting snow, and even dew are all absorbed into the wood, causing it to swell and expand. This moisture is the perfect breeding ground for mildew, algae and fungi. The prolonged dampness attracts dirt from atmospheric pollution and airborne fungal spores. The sun's harmful UV rays cause rapid evaporation of this moisture, which makes the wood contract and dry out.
Since decks are horizontal surfaces, they hold water, snow and dew for longer periods of time and this accelerates the damaging effects. Decks get up to 40 percent more UV radiation from sunlight than comparable vertical surfaces.
The temperature difference between the sun exposed top of the board and the shaded bottom can be as much as 50 degrees F. This constant cycle of wet/dry, expansion/contraction causes the wood to warp, crack, split and turn that unsightly gray color. The forces of nature can't be controlled, but the deck protection experts at Better Deckers Deck Restoration and Pressure Cleaning can control the harmful effects they have on your deck.
Step 1: Restore
To bring out the natural beauty of your wood, our experts first remove dirt, algae, mildew, mold and stains by pretreating the wood with a chemical product that acts as a Cleaner, Mildewicide, Brightener and Mold Inhibitor.
After chemical pretreatement, pressure cleaning further removes the dead microbial left from the mildew, fungus, and mold. Pressure Cleaning then carefully cleans the aged dried out wood and brings the natural color to the surface.
Step 2: Beautify & Protect
When your deck is dry and free from fungus/bacteria, we apply a highly rated stain of your choice that is a superior water repellant, sealant, UV protector and Mold/Mildew prehibitor.
